WHAT IS PROFHILO?
Profhilo is the first BDDE-free stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) based product for treating skin laxity. With one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market (64mg/2ml) it not only boosts and hydrates the skin, but also remodels the ageing and sagging tissue.

HOW DOES PROFHILO WORK?
Profhilo lasts in the skin around 28 days. During this time the stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of HA. The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement. Therefore it is more than simply a skin booster as it also has a significant tightening/lifting effect on the tissue as well. Profile doesn’t need to be massaged and leaves no nodules.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE PROCEDURE?
During the treatment Dr Qureshi will use only 5 injection points thereby allowing you to be more comfortable. The profhilo will spread to the desired areas and provide volume and hydration across the skin, giving an overall rejuvenated appearance. Due to it being able to act at the same time at the different injection points it allows the face to be lifted evenly.
WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
After just a single course of Profhilo®, which involves 2 injectable treatments 4 weeks apart, you can expect to see an intense hydration. It makes the skin glow and fine lines can disappear. You’ll notice smoother, tighter skin. Even for those with very wrinkled skin, an improvement in the texture is undeniable. The results from Profhilo® treatments will most often last for up to six months, but results can differ from person to person.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROFHILO AND DERMA FILLERS?
Due to the way that Profhilo® is formulated, it is not a volumising treatment in the same way that dermal fillers are, and is not used to enhance specific areas of the face (e.g. lips, cheeks, chin). Profhilo® is primarily a hydrating treatment, and the Hyaluronic Acid it contains is dispersed evenly throughout the face, giving your skin a more plump and firm look overall
BENEFITS OF PROFHILO
- It stimulates the skin to produce youth-boosting collagen and elastin.
- It enhances stem cell reproduction.
- Lines and wrinkles appear less noticeable.
- It can reverse the appearance of skin laxity (looseness and drooping) which tends to happen as we age.
- The skin appears more healthy and vibrant.
IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?
There is minimal discomfort during the treatment. The new generation of dermal fillers contain a numbing local anesthetic, which makes the procedure relatively painless. Prior to the treatment an anesthetic will be applied (If required) to keep any pain to a minimum. The treated area will be sore and tender for a couple of hours post procedure, and tender for a few days post procedure.
WHAT ARE THE RISKS?
At elixircosmetics we take every precaution for a clean and safe procedure, only sterilized equipment and new syringes are used for every procedure in a sanitized environment. Clients should follow our post procedure recommendations, and there should be minimal risks or complications.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Some clients may experience some slight swelling or bruising post treatment, this is normal. The extent on how this affects the client usually depends on how easily they bruise, usually it’s very minor. You may also notice that the injected area will be tender for up to 5 days following the treatment. Dr Qureshi is always on hand to answer any questions or concerns. After the treatment, it is recommended to avoid physical strain and sports for 24 hours. Please also avoid having further cosmetic procedures for 48 hours. It is not recommended to go to a sauna or have a steamy bath for the first few days either. It’s best to stay out of the sun if any bruising or prolonged swelling occurs.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?
The treatment is recommended over two sessions, usually one month apart for the best results. A further treatment may be required after six months to maintain the skins appearance.
RECOMMENDATIONS
- Avoid having any alcohol the day before your treatment. This will help to minimize the chance of bruising.
- In the week before your treatment, try to avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen or any other type of anti-inflammatory medication as this will also increase your risk of a bruise occurring.
- For Botox – please do not plan to have any other facial treatments (peels, facials, waxing, threading, semi-permanent makeup) for a week following your treatment. It is ok to have these treatments at any time before your Botox visit.

- If you have been unwell with a cold virus, cold sore (herpes) or any other skin rash or condition, please phone the clinic to check if you should still attend your appointment. Your general medical health is important, and we are happy to reschedule your aesthetic treatment if necessary.
- After your treatment, please closely follow the aftercare advice given to you by your Medical Injector, and please do not apply anything else to the treatment area, unless previously discussed.
- We do not recommend that you have any injectable treatments if you suspect or can confirm that you are pregnant. We also recommend that you have completely finished breast feeding before returning for your aesthetic treatments.
